DESCRIPTION

The cj_cpen command automatically sets an	associated user-
specified	color whenever one of	the logical pens [0-15 or
none] is selected. When the command is entered, the follow-
     ing prompt	is displayed:

	 Cpen (0-15)? 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 none	SETUP LOAD STYLE

Indicate the desired pen by entering a number between 0 and
15 or 'n' to specify none, or use B1 to	select one of the
items offered by the prompt. This	will cause the	specified
pen and the associated color to be set and the cj_cpen com-
     mand will terminate.

Should you	wish to	load a different cj_cpen style, then
enter an 'l' or select LOAD STYLE. A prompt similar to the
     following will be displayed:

Cpen style? CUR: xxxx yyyy user MENU EXIT

When used,	the last two cj_cpen styles are remembered and
will be displayed where	indicated by xxxx and yyyy above.
The default user style is also shown. Select the desired
style or else type in an alternate name.	If you are unsure
of	the name of the	style you desire, select the MENU option
and you will be presented with	a standard selection Menu
displaying	the name of all	of the available cj_cpen styles.
Once you have made	your selection,	the new	pen/color assign-
ments are activated and you can use the cj_cpen command to
make selections as	discussed above. For more information on
cj_cpen styles, see the manual section entitled "STYLES"
     below.

  SETUP
At	the initial prompt you may type	the letter 's' or use the
mouse button B1 to	select SETUP, which causes the CPEN SETUP
Menu to be	displayed in the middle	of the screen.	This menu
is divided into	four major areas. The	topmost	work area
consists of the rows labeled PEN, COL and SET. Below this
is	the message area; a row	labeled	MSG. This is followed by
the color-bar selection area. The	forth area at the bottom
of the Menu is labeled STYLES and will be discussed in the
     next section.

The primary object	of this	Menu is	to allow a new set of
pen/color	assignments to	be made. This is accomplished by
using B1 to select	the desired pen	number (0-15 or 'none')
from the PEN row. When a	selection has been made, the mes-
     sage:

SELECT	THE COLOR BELOW	TO USE FOR PEN #x

will be displayed in the MSG area. This instructs you to
use B1 to	select the desired color (or NONE) which is to be
assigned to the specified pen.	When a color	has been
selected from the	color-bar, that	color and its number will
be	automatically displayed	in the appropriate boxes in the
row labeled COL. Repeat	these steps as required	to create
the desired set of	pen-to-color assignments. If you would
like to assign a single	color to all of	the pens at once,
use B1 to select the box labeled PEN. The	message:

SELECT	THE COLOR BELOW	TO USE FOR ALL OF THE PENS

is	displayed and the color	that is	selected will be assigned
     to	all of the pens.

Finally, you may use B1 to	select one of the square "but-
tons" in the row labeled SET. The button will be
highlighted and the corresponding pen and color will be made
active, as can be	seen by	observing the values displayed on
     the Common	Menu.

  STYLES
The cj_cpen system	allows you to save and use styles similar
to other	ARRIS commands. Depending upon your particular
requirements, you may find	it useful to establish	a number
of different pen/color assignments for use under	different
circumstances. Once a particular mapping has been created
and saved as a cj_cpen style, it may be recalled (loaded) at
     any time.

To	create a new style, use	the CPEN SETUP Menu to	make the
desired assignments as discussed	above.	When this Menu is
displayed	you will see	the name of the active style
displayed	in the box labeled CURRENT STYLE. As you make
changes to	the settings you will notice that the name is
replaced by the	word "none" to indicate	that the mappings
currently displayed have not been save as a cj_cpen style.
When everything is set as	desired, use B1	to select the box
labeled SAVE. You	will be	prompted with something similar
     to:

Cpen style name? xxxx yyyy user EXIT OTHER

You are being instructed to enter the name for this style
which may be any	descriptive alphanumeric string	between	1
and 8 characters in length. If previous cj_cpen styles have
been used,	those names may	be displayed in	place of xxxx and
yyyy above. Notice that one of the options offered is the
name "user". If you create and	save a cj_cpen style with
this particular name, then	whenever you use cj_cpen for the
first time during	a graphic session this user style will be
automatically loaded as the default pen/color assignments.
When saving a style, if the name you specify already exists,
the following prompt will be displayed:

Style Exists.	Overwrite? def: NO yes no

If	you respond by selecting YES or	(entering a 'y') then the
existing cj_cpen	style will be replaced	with the new map-
ping. On the other hand, if you respond	by selecting NO
then you will be returned to the previous prompt so that you
     can enter a different name.

NOTE: When saving	a cj_cpen style, you should be aware that
the active	pen and	color settings indicated by the	currently
highlighted SET button are also remembered. Whenever an
existing style is loaded, these values will automatically be
activated as the current pen and color. If you would like
to suppress this feature, then prior to	saving the style,
use B1 to select the box labeled SET which will clear
     (unhighlight) all of the buttons.

Use B1 to select the LOAD box if you would	like to load an
existing cj_cpen	style into the CPEN SETUP Menu for review
or	modification and select	the LIST box if	you would like to
review a list of all existing style names. Should you wish
to	delete an existing style from the system, then select
PURGE. You will see a prompt similar to the following:

Cpen style to purge? def: EXIT MENU	ALL OTHER

As	a safety measure, the default	response (if you press
RETURN) is to exit without deleting any style. If you know
the name of the style you wish to purge, then enter it at
the prompt	and it will be removed. If you	are unsure of the
name, then	select the MENU	option and you will be	presented
with a list of all existing style names from which you can
select the	style that is to be deleted. In the rare case
that you wish to remove all existing styles, you may select
the ALL option. You will automatically be	presented with	a
Menu which shows the name of every existing cj_cpen style
     and will be prompted:

Purge ALL cj_cpen styles? def: NO yes no

If	you select YES or enter	'y', all of the styles shown,
including the default "user" style, will be deleted. Select
NO	to cancel the PURGE-ALL	command.

ERROR MESSAGES

ERROR: YOU	MUST FIRST SELECT A PEN	-- THEN	CHOOSE A COLOR.

from the color-bar prior to specifying a pen for the
color	assignment. First select a	pen from the row
labeled PEN and then pick the desired color.

Cpen style	"xxxx" does not	exist.
When attempting to load or purge a cj_cpen style, if an
invalid name is entered, this	message	will be	displayed
to inform you of that fact and	you will be prompted to
	 re-enter the correct style name.

Cpen style	"user" has not yet been	created.
This message will be displayed if the special "user"
style	is attempted to be loaded before it has been
	 created.
