Installation Instructions:

Preliminary Notes:

Full Release Installation Procedure:

These instructions are for installing a full release of the ARRIS++ software. If you are installing a patch file (i.e., an update), see the instructions in the following section.
  1. Read the LICENSE AGREEMENT. If you accept all of the terms of the agreement, proceed. If you do not accept the terms, do not install or use the software.

  2. Make sure that the version of ARRIS++ you install matches the version of ARRIS that you are currently using. It is VERY important that you keep ARRIS and ARRIS++ synchronized to avoid problems. The easiest way to check compatibility between the two programs is to verify the version and spin numbers of both products. Once installed, you can check the version of each using the following commands:

The name of the ARRIS++ zip archive that you are installing includes the number of the ARRIS version and spin with which it is intended to be used.

  3. Exit from all running sessions of ARRIS.

  4. If you have an earlier version of ARRIS++ installed under the current $ARRIS folder, perform the following. Otherwise, skip to the next step.

Move the current version of ARRIS++ software out of the way by renaming its folder. To do this, go to the following location:

and rename cjmenus.ap to something else such as cjmenus.ap_OLD. Later, after a successful installation, this renamed folder and all of its contents may be deleted.

  5. The ARRIS++ Enhanced Menus module is shipped as two zip archives*: one containing the software and the other the documentation. The contents of each archive must be unzipped into the following location:

This creates a folder named cjmenus.ap which contains all of the ARRIS++ files.

    * Note that the demo version of ARRIS++ is shipped as one file and does not include documentation and various extra tools supplied with a full release of ARRIS++.

That's it. Restart ARRIS and the ARRIS++ Enhanced Menus will appear on the PLUG-IN MODULES pull-down menu. Select this entry to load and use the module.

To access the ARRIS++ documentation from within ARRIS, click on the QUERY icon (the ?) on the DESKTOP menu and select the ARRIS++ documentation button. Alternately, you can point your web browser directly at the file:

If you have installed the DEMO version of the program, then the documentation is not included. However, complete documentation can be reviewed at the CJSA web site. Point your browser at:

Also remember that all SAVE features are disabled in the DEMO version.

Patch (Update) Installation Procedure:

These instructions are for the installation of an update patch file for an existing installation of ARRIS++. These patch files are typically released to make minor compatibility updates to ARRIS when Sigma Design has bumped the spin number of ARRIS. Occasionally, new features will also be introduced.
  1. Make sure that the version of the ARRIS++ patch you are installing matches the version of ARRIS that you are currently using.

  2. Exit from all running sessions of ARRIS.

  3. Unzip the patch file you received into the following location:

This will add one or more of the following files to the cjsa.vn/cjmenus.ap subdirectory:

If a previous patch was installed, then some or all of these file may already exist. Patches are cumulative so you should overwrite all of these files if the unzip utility prompts for this.

That's it. Restart ARRIS, load the ARRIS++ module and check that the mew patch is properly installed by using the :cj_vers command to check the new version number.
